Mxf files in after effects

I can also run that clip through the normal Avid process importing into avid and spitting out a Quicktime reference file to the mxf media. I then import that quicktime file into After Effects. The colors of the 2 clips are drastically different. Plainly speaking, the clip that ran through Avid is darker than the straight mxf clip. For fun I tried this. I took the mxf clip from the p2 card and brought it into Premiere Pro CS3.

Re: mxf After Effects Test. I might be talking to myself, but I want to figure this out. I placed a levels effect on the 2 clips identical clips except that one was imported directly as mxf, and the other was run through Avid first.

The Histogram of each were different from each other. While the Histogram on the raw mxf reached from input 0 to input black to white , the Histogram for the Avid-processed clip had a range from I also tried the test exporting various image sequences and Avi files from avid and got the same result.

Something tells me this has something to do with how Avid interprets the values of these clips. I took the raw mxf. Brought that into After effects. Exported that clip as a new quicktime as DNxHD. I then brought that new clip into Avid using various import methods.

I can even export this new clip from Avid and go back into AE once again, and indeed, it matches the raw mxf. Q » Screenshot » Online help.
