Building materials —The makeup of your walls will affect the maximum weight that can be supported by your new fixture. Is it the C-Side? Once the hinge has been opened there are four seals 2 thin and 2 thick.

Which should be disposed of? How does one adjust the tension on the hinge? Should one throw away the white piece of plastic that wraps around the interior of the hinge? After the correct seals have been thrown away, and the hinge tension has been set, how does one secure the back plate?

What will happen if one over tightens the back plate? Why would one need to make sure the hinges are straight and level? Where are the tension screws on A to Wall hinge? Can one drill the holes for the hinge anywhere? What will happen if the hinges have been installed too low on the wall? How does one know the exact placement of the A to Wall hinge holes right before drilling?

Do the hinges need a stud? If installing an A to B hinge, before attaching the A panel what things do I need to check on?

Hint: B Panel On the C portion of the A to B hinge, will we be using the thinner gaskets, or the thicker? While mounting the door, how many people are required? Do the screw side of the hinge go on the outside or inside of the shower? After the door has been loosely mounted, should we realign the door or tighten the hinges right away?

Just be careful about your materials and the health and integrity of your shower door. Now, those were just the considerations before installing it yourself. Check out the tips below. This one is just more common sense, but it makes good sense to make sure that your shower walls are complete before you start measuring and thinking about putting in a door.

This requires your tape measure. Make sure you measure lengthwise across the bottom, middle, and top of your shower for the inline opening. When measuring with a return, measure at the center of the curb the centerline. You want your measurements to be as accurate as possible with no mistakes. You can order custom-sized fillers for that.

This actually requires two different measurements. Check the maximum height, by measuring from the top of the threshold or tub deck all the way to the top of your tile or fiberglass walls.
